Retail Employee Development
Our client is a world leader in the retail segment with over 30 lifestyle brands and approximately 57,000 associates working globally. The customer brands are sold in more than 150 countries through 47,000 retailers, contributing to approximately $ 11 billion in revenues.
Training and development plays a critical role in the development of the client’s retail work force. To achieve a high level of performance, it is vital that the client associates receive training that is performance-based, minimally impacts their time away from the sales floor, and is organized/ not overwhelming, and can be tracked and measured.
Towards this, the client wanted to take all of their content in binder and paper form and transform it into one curriculum that represents a retail career path based on a blended learning approach, supported by their talent management system.
Knowledge Synonyms engaged with the client to assist in the development of a curriculum strategy that can be used for all On-boarding and Career Development efforts, as well as to develop a new product knowledge curriculum. Knowledge Synonyms conducted a 4 days need analysis program onsite. During this, we conducted organization-wide surveys and in-person interviews to discover the strengths and weaknesses of current-state learning and development programs, employee career paths and gaps in alignment between the both.
The need analysis led to a curriculum plan that was tightly integrated to career development paths for the following targeted roles:
Temporary Sales Associates
Assistant Store Managers
The retail employee development program aligned to 6 behavioral competencies and 8 core competencies of the retail staff.
